About ToolNotch
Free tools. No accounts. No nonsense.
Why ToolNotch exists
Every developer has been there: you need to quickly compress an image, merge two PDFs, or convert a unit, so you search online and land on a site plastered with pop-ups, paywalls, and "Sign up to continue" banners. You upload your file, wait for a server to process it, and hope the result is usable. It's a frustrating experience that has barely changed in a decade.
ToolNotch was built out of that frustration. The goal was simple: create a set of tools that are instant, free, and completely private. Every tool on this site runs entirely in your browser — your files never leave your device. There are no accounts to create, no usage limits, and no features locked behind a subscription.
The result is a platform that respects your time and your data. Open a tool, use it, close the tab. That's it. No confirmation emails, no onboarding wizards, no "upgrade to Pro" prompts. Just tools that work.
What we believe
The best tool is one that gets out of your way. We believe utility software should be free, fast to load, and private by default. You should never have to hand over your email address, agree to a trial period, or wait for a cloud upload just to resize a photo or calculate a loan payment.
All ToolNotch tools are client-side: your data is processed in the browser and never transmitted to our servers. The site works offline for most tools after the initial load. No paywalls, no feature tiers, and no accounts — ever.
Who built this
ToolNotch is built and maintained by Juan Soares, a software developer who got tired of telling people "just use that sketchy site" every time they needed a simple online tool. He built the first version over a weekend and has been adding tools ever since.
Our tools
ToolNotch currently offers 74+ free tools across seven categories: PDF utilities (merge, split, compress, convert), image tools (compress, convert between formats), finance calculators (loan calculator, invoice generator, portfolio tracker), health tools (BMI calculator, TDEE calculator, calorie deficit planner), text tools (word counter, paraphraser, case converter), education tools (GPA calculator, grade calculator, citation generator), and fun tools (typing test, random generators).
New tools are added regularly based on what people actually need. If you want to suggest a tool, the GitHub link above is the best place to do that.
